INTEL DJ / VJ Battle Film Shoot & Edit
This was a very different event at East London Club Cargo for Intel who wanted to show how powerful their new range of pentium laptops were. At the same time they wanted to hold a promotional experience that would appeal to a young trendy affluent audience and thus gain all of the positive association with their brand. We devised the idea of a DJ /VJ battle. Basically there were 6 heats where one VJ would perform alongside a DJ and each of them went up against the other contenders really pushing the laptops to their limits. My involvement was on several levels. Firstly I was responsible for project management and equipment / software acquisition. We had to provide almost as many different VJ hardware and software options as there were VJs as they all used individual mixing styles. Even with my previous VJ experience, It was a complete learning curve. The VJ scene was in it's infancy at the time. Secondly, I was responsible for recording all of the VJ and DJ sets for editing post event. Thirdly I filmed the whole event with a team of camera operators under my direction. This included setup, show and interviews with all of the key players and contestants. Finally, after the event I edited all of the material for inclusion to Intel's website. It was used for on-going promotional purposes.
